A RETIRED COMPANY SECRETARY /RETIRED RUFC REFEREE /INTERESTED IN SPORT/FLOWER ARRANGING
Now
retired for over 4 years, like every retiree I find myself busier than ever.
Why I ask myself? I can only think that it must be me slowing down.
But
ask a busy person to do a job and they usually say yes-i.e. you find yourself
doing another job, and another job, and so it goes on.
That
is why I think I am busier than ever-not slowing down- although I have been
told I should- guess by whom?
Here are some of my interests.
As a committed Christian I give a lot of my
time to my Church. I am one of the Trustees, Treasurer and I also play the
Organ- even though most of the congregation think I play too quickly- with the
occasional wrong note- occasionally !- well mostly, I enjoy being able to make a joyful noise unto the Lord.
Sometimes
this doesn’t leave a lot of spare time to fit in any other activity-especially
as I have to do my share of the family chores. But my wife and I do like to
watch a good Rugby Union match and we travel round on a Saturday to what we
think will be the best game in the Area. We are also fortunate to go up to
Twickenham at least once a year to see an International which we enjoy, it is
also an excuse to spend a few days in London and sometimes fit in a show.
My
interest in Flower arranging began several years ago when my Church decided it
would hold a Flower Festival. From there I joined a local flower club and since
then my interest in this hobby has grown. I am currently Chairman of the Club
and of course this means fitting in more meetings etc-as I said previously ask
a busy person! When Flower arranging I find it can be very therapeutic as you
become engrossed in the title of the arrangement you are trying to depict, and
so it makes life less stressful. I feel it is good to enter competition work
that brings out the best in your ability.
