HILARY’S GARDEN PAGE.
I enjoy being in my
garden, and especially have an interest in growing seedlings, and perennial
cuttings.
Most
of all I enjoy the relaxation that comes with being outdoors, and the fun involved
with the progress and fascination of growth.
My
greenhouse is invaluable in springtime, because of the need for warmth for
young plants. Sometimes, I cheat a little and purchase plug plants, which have
already begun their growth in the hands of the garden centre!
There
are a considerable amount of Leylandi trees as a backdrop, to tend and keep
trimmed once a year, but that is a worthwhile exercise, as it frames and
encloses the garden picture.
I
enjoy the arbour we have placed at an angle, in front of the trees, and it has
provided many relaxing hours. My favourite spots in the garden area are the
perennial border and the small herb space, as many of the plants there in are
originally grown from seed, or cuttings I have taken, some from kind friends!
My
favourite plants which I have grown and which grace the border year by year
are, the Blue Poppy, (Meconopsis Poppy) and a Lily called Stargazer (deep pink
colour) They have both a short period in bloom, but nevertheless very rewarding
to the grower, and it’s visitors!
There
is also a small pebble pool in a quiet corner, with a delightful rippling
sound, to enable one to unwind at the end of a busy day.
So
in all, I have a wonderful retreat, to visit, whenever I wish, and even in the
winter, I love to sit and look out onto the Garden, from the Conservatory.
